SCHWARTZEL PULLS OUT OF THE TURKISH AIRLINES OPEN

South Africa’s Charl Schwartzel is the latest high-profile golfer to pull out of the Turkish Airlines Open, which starts tomorrow. The European Tour Final Series event at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort in Antalya has already lost Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed from its field. Schwartzel, who is guaranteed his spot at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, will give Turkey a miss to work on his swing. After his 30th-place finished in last weekend’s WGC-HSBC Champions, Schwartzel told IOL.co.za: “You know, I thought the only real positive for me was that I stayed very patient. I didn’t play very well. “The golf swing’s not doing very well and I had a really bad back this week, so maybe that’s a factor. “I will just work on my own swing - it’s just very difficult to fix while you’re playing in a tournament.”
