Crack­down on block­ing school roads

Traf­fic au­thor­i­ties in Abu Dhabi have warned par­ents not to hold up traf­fic near schools es­pe­cially when drop­ping off and pick­ing up their chil­dren. Abu Dhabi Traf­fic and Pa­trols Direc­torate said they have stepped up mea­sures to crack down on er­rant driv­ers and en­sure the smooth move­ment of traf­fic near schools. Dur­ing in­spec­tions last week, 13 driv­ers were found block­ing traf­fic through il­le­gal park­ing and other vi­o­la­tions near schools. Col Mo­hammed Dahi Hu­mairi from the Traf­fic and Pa­trols Direc­torate said: “Dou­ble park­ing, switch­ing off your en­gine and leav­ing your car block­ing an­other ve­hi­cle as you take your child to school is an of­fence and peo­ple do­ing that will be fined.”
