Would roads be safer if cars did not have horns?

7 Days in Dubai - - COMUNNITY -

I have often wondered what the impact would be if car makers were to disconnect the horn from every car before it is sold in the UAE. When cars were first invented more than 100 years ago, horns were used as a safety device to let pedestrians/horse carriages know you are coming since they may not be expecting you. Nowadays, pedestrians are pretty used to cars surely the horn has become a little redundant. Still, I guess it’s handy when you want to warn someone that you are undertaking them on SZR, that they need to get out of the fast lane or to tell them that the lights turned green while they were engrossed in a game of Candy Crush. I guess, without the horn Dubai’s roads just wouldn’t be as safe. Daft Vader Dubai
