EURO­PEAN TOUR CHIEF OPEN TO RY­DER CUP CHANGES

Euro­pean Tour chief Keith Pel­ley has in­sisted that he is pre­pared to re­vise the rules in re­gards to Ry­der Cup el­i­gi­bil­ity af­ter calls for a change from Lee West­wood and Rory McIl­roy. The two mem­bers of the los­ing Euro­pean team in Hazel­tine have sug­gested in re­cent days that play­ers com­pet­ing on the PGA Tour should be made avail­able to Europe’s Ry­der Cup cap­tain. Cur­rently only mem­bers of the Euro­pean Tour are el­i­gi­ble to play on the team, how­ever, Pel­ley stressed that this rule could be looked at be­fore next sea­son. “We are al­ways lis­ten­ing to what our top play­ers have to say and we want to have the best pos­si­ble team play at the Ry­der Cup,” said Pel­ley while in at­ten­dance at the Turk­ish Air­lines Open. “We are hav­ing some of those dis­cus­sions now. We will ad­just the Ry­der Cup qual­i­fi­ca­tion if we feel that we need to.”
