What to do? Colleagues demand respect then say it’s not enough for them

7 Days in Dubai - - EVENTS -

I work in a high-paced environment, I am a part of a team. I know that communication is the main thing a team needs to work together. But the manager and supervisors constantly complain, saying I don’t respect them. On the first day of my work I was yelled at by a supervisor to call him “SIR” and he was so disappointed with me for not calling him Sir. Since then, I know that addressing their name, hurts their feelings. I call them ‘Sir’ and say ‘Please’ in each interaction but it is never seems to be enough to them. Sometimes they yell, “you don’t have to say both!” Now I don’t know how to work together with the team, and motivate them, develop productivity but how to respond to these people who demand respect and when you give them respect that is never enough. I sometimes ask them to sit down and talk about the problems but they avoid meeting. And I am afraid to approach the manager. Confused UAE
