Cops trace dealer to find entire drug farm
Police were called to investigate reports that a farm worker was growing marijuana – only to find he and his gang were cultivating an entire field of the plants.
Details of the raid in March emerged as 10 men went on trial at the Dubai Court of First Instance.
Three men stand accused of growing and selling drugs, while seven others found at the scene had been smoking it in the farm.
The men, aged 50, 24 and 21, had no lawyer to represent them when they appeared in court yesterday and did not enter a plea.
Prosecutors said Dubai Police received information that one of the men at the farm on the Dubai-Al Ain Road had been selling marijuana.
Officers raided the site on March 14 and found the 10 men along with a large drug operation spreading out into the fields. An Emirati officer By Ali Al Shouk testified: “We found seeds inside a room and some marijuana. We found tools used to product marijuana too.”

He said: “They led us to a field containing hundreds of marijuana plants.
“They admitted that they were using the marijuana for personal use and also selling it to customers.”
Altogether police seized 1,035 plants measuring up to 108 cm high. More than 7kg of marijuana was also found on site.
Judge Mohammed Jamal delayed the case until later this month so that a defence lawyer can be assigned.
