FORMER FIJI COACH RYAN TRAINS UAE YOUNGSTERS
Former Fiji sevens head coach Ben Ryan and his assistant Chris Cracknell were in Dubai yesterday to inspire an emerging generation of talented rugby stars at a special HSBC Grassroots Schools initiative with the UAE Rugby Federation. The pair met youngsters at the Hamdan bin Rashid school and will travel to Abu Dhabi in the coming days to help the players for their final preparations for the National School Boys competition at December’s Dubai Rugby Sevens tournament. “It’s exciting to help the game develop in a region that doesn’t have a traditionally rich heritage in rugby,” said Ryan, who led Fiji to gold at the Rio Olympics. “I look forward to watching the progress of the Emirati players here as we approach the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series kick off in three weeks’ time.” The Dubai Rugby Sevens takes place from December 1-3.
