Australia great Shane Warne has added his name to an ever-growing list of contenders to lead the Baggy Greens in their upcoming home Twenty20 series. The three T20 clashes against Sri Lanka next February will be played at the same time the Test side are in India preparing for a four-Test series. That leaves Australia without coach Darren Lehmann, while Justin Langer, tipped as the natural successor, will be coaching Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield. The likes of Brad Haddin, Jason Gillespie, Ricky Ponting and Warne are all interested in the post, with Cricket Australia (CA) declaring all candidates will be considered. “We are speaking to a number of people about the prospect of coaching the T20 international squad against Sri Lanka as head coach and assistant coach, Darren Lehmann and David Saker, will be in India,” a CA spokesperson said. “At this stage no decision has been made on an appointment.”
