The team behind the round-the-world solar flight on Solar Impulse 2 has founded a new organisation to push for greater use of clean technology. The World Alliance for Clean Technologies aims to bring together start-ups, companies and organisations producing or supporting the use of clean technologies. “We need to embrace clean technologies, not because they are ‘eco-logical’, but because they are ‘logical’,” said Bertrand Piccard, Chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation and one of the two pilots involved in the challenge, which took off and finished in Abu Dhabi. “Even if climate change didn’t exist, energy efficient technologies would make sense to create jobs, generate profit and boost economic development, while also reducing CO2 emissions and protecting natural resources.”
