Alvarez promises to silence McGregor fans at UFC 205
Eddie Alvarez is confident that he can silence Conor McGregor’s vocal support by overcoming the popular Irishman at UFC 205. The American will defend his lightweight title at Madison Square Gardens and despite being the home fighter will likely have less support than McGregor. “I’m here to represent the beast coast, east coast,” Alvarez said at the ceremonial weigh-in which was well attended by McGregor supporters. “I’m gonna silence every one of you.” McGregor meanwhile is hoping to make history by becoming the first fighter in UFC history to hold two belts at the same time. The 28-year-old is already the featherweight champion and is looking to add the lightweight strap to his collection. “I feel great at this weight,” said McGregor. “Obviously, it’s tougher to get to featherweight, but I think it’s crazy to they say I can’t get to featherweight anymore. I can defend them both.” The UFC 205 main card will start at 7am UAE time, with McGettigans, Original Wings and Rings and UFC gym all screening the action.
