Kerry: ceasefire agreed in Yemen
US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that Yemen’s armed Houthi movement and a Saudi-led military alliance have agreed to a cessation of hostilities starting on November 17, according to a brief report by Reuters last night. The news agency said he made the comments while speaking to journalists at the end of a visit to the UAE. It quoted Kerry as saying that all parties to the conflict have also agreed to work to set up a Yemeni national unity government by the end of the year. Kerry is on a international tour that takes in New Zealand, the UAE, a global climate conference in Morocco and Peru, where he will join Barack Obama at an Asia-Pacific economic summit.
