Aleppo strikes continue
Pro-government forces pushed on with their bombardment of the Syrian city of Aleppo yesterday on the second day of an offensive against the city’s rebel-held eastern quarters. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said 20 civilians have been killed by the fierce bombardment that resumed on Tuesday after a threeweek respite. Local activists counted at least 50 artillery and air strikes since the morning. The UN estimates that pro-government forces have trapped about 275,000 people in Aleppo’s eastern quarters in a strict blockade enforced since August.
