7 things to see at Big Boys Toys in Abu Dhabi
The world’s fastest legal street bike, a real-life transformer and luxury hyper cars are just some exhibits on display in Abu Dhabi this week.
A haven for technology geeks and luxury enthusiasts, Big Boys Toys 2016 returns to the capital today featuring products worth more than $200 million.
Three times larger than last year’s event, the exhibition promises something for everyone from gadgets and automobiles to futuristic fashion and accessories for both men and women.
With a number of worldfirsts on display, we pick out seven highlights…
FLY IN A FLARIS
The world’s smallest and fastest single-engine jet, the FLARIS LAR01, will be on display at the exhibition by maker Metal-Master. It is equipped to take off and land on very short, grass runways. The conception, technical parameters and state-of-theart technology in this aircraft surpasses most jets in the world today. The firm says the machine is also the world’s safest business jet aircraft, equipped with a parachute system.
PICK UP A PENGUIN
Don’t know how to swim or scuba dive? No problem. A semi-submarine boat, the GoOcean Penguin, is designed to offer underwater rides that will take you through the sea with you relaxing inside. Although you cannot test the boat at the exhibition, you can explore the inside.
MTT TURBINE BIKE
The world’s fastest street-legal turbinepowered bike, the MTT 420 RR (Race Ready), will be launched at the exhibition. This two wheeler guarantees a 400kph+ ride. It features Ohlin adjustable shocks, ISR brakes and lever, new generation carbonfibre body panels and a steering stabiliser to accommodate higher speeds.
A 321kph ELECTRIC CAR
Genovation will be displaying the world’s fastest electric car. Breaking the world record by almost 48kph, production is limited to 75 vehicles worldwide with each having their own unique and customisable features.
THE KHALIFA BOAT
Just your average speed boat but styled to look like a sports car and the aerodynamics of a plane. Designer Nasser Al Marzouqi will be launching his Khalifa boat, which combines hydrodynamics and aerodynamics. What’s more? Its high-class interiors are constructed with gold and carbon fibre. Sleek.
IN TUNE WITH THE FUTURE
Musicians take note, Big Boys Toys will be the place to be for new trends in instrument design. From 3-D printed instruments to one of the biggest piano redesigns in 150 years, designers and exhibitors are definitely tuned in.
When a buggy is called ‘Bad Blood’ you know it’s going to exciting. This is an offroad vehicle that’s ready to race and just one of the exhibits that petrolheads will need to see. email@example.com
