Three tourists accused of engaging in group sex while drunk will not face charges, Dubai Public Prosecution has said. The trio were detained and had their passports confiscated after the woman, 25, told police she had been raped by two fellow Brits, aged 22 and 24, at their hotel. The men said the act was consensual and all three later faced charges that they had sex out of wedlock and drank without a licence. Last night, Dubai Media Office published a statement from public prosecution saying it had decided “not to proceed with legal proceedings”. It said the act “happened with the consent of the three parties in question”. It added: “A video obtained from the mobile phone of one of the suspects detailing the act was a key evidence that supported this conclusion.” The case received extension coverage in British press. The Dubai Media Office statement added: “Dubai’s legal system takes reports of all crimes very seriously, including and especially violence against women and conducts thorough investigations of all incidents.”
