Paris po­lice said that two masked thieves stopped a car car­ry­ing two Qatari tourists, sprayed them with tear gas and stole be­long­ings worth as much as 5 mil­lion euros (Dhs19 mil­lion). A po­lice of­fi­cial said yes­ter­day that the two women were tar­geted on the A1 high­way on route to Paris’ high-end 16th ar­rondisse­ment af­ter ar­riv­ing on Mon­day night at the Le Bour­get Air­port. Their driver re­ported the in­ci­dent to po­lice. The of­fi­cial, who was not au­tho­rised to speak pub­licly about on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions, said the women told po­lice the stolen goods in­cluded jew­ellery, lux­ury fash­ions and lug­gage worth an es­ti­mated 5 mil­lion euros. A Saudi prince’s diplo­matic con­voy was am­bushed in a sim­i­lar heist in 2014 as it headed to Le Bour­get Air­port, com­monly used for pri­vate jets.
