Qataris are robbed
Paris police said that two masked thieves stopped a car carrying two Qatari tourists, sprayed them with tear gas and stole belongings worth as much as 5 million euros (Dhs19 million). A police official said yesterday that the two women were targeted on the A1 highway on route to Paris’ high-end 16th arrondissement after arriving on Monday night at the Le Bourget Airport. Their driver reported the incident to police. The official, who was not authorised to speak publicly about ongoing investigations, said the women told police the stolen goods included jewellery, luxury fashions and luggage worth an estimated 5 million euros. A Saudi prince’s diplomatic convoy was ambushed in a similar heist in 2014 as it headed to Le Bourget Airport, commonly used for private jets.
