Tomorrow’s 45th UAE National Day will see celebrations the length of the entire nation over the long weekend. The festivities are under way already with UAE flags billowing in the wind and a sea of red, green white and black on display. A Guinness World Record was set on Monday by GEMS education students at the start of the week to mark the occasion. More than 2,000 GEMS students took part in the human transformation of an open hand into the iconic three-fingered salute introduced by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

Yesterday, many organisations also marked Commemoration Day, which was inaugurated last year to remember those that have lost their lives in service of their country.
