Where is your home and what sort of building is it?
I live in the Lakes in Dubai. It’s a stunning area with beautiful places to walk and many green spaces. My home is a detached villa, which we’re currently in the process of renovating. I live with my husband Fabio and my three beautiful children. Our home is busy at all times so I need to make sure we all have our own space. Having three young children means our home needs to be both practical as well as stylish, and I believe you can have both if you put thought and effort into each room. Being a designer I wanted to put my own stamp on the property and make the space work for my family; I think it’s important to make your home space reflect your personality and needs. How long have you been living there and how long did it take for you to get your home looking as it does? What kind of a process has it been? We’ve only been living here a year, and we bought the property because we knew we had major plans to renovate. The process has been stressful at times, as I wanted to cause as little disruption as possible to my family and trying to organise builders around school times can be difficult. I think planning is the key to any successful project. I’ve taken my time to make sure each area of the property is finished off correctly as attention to detail is my forté; getting the project right first time may take more time and effort, but I ensured each section of the build was correct before we moved on. I knew what I wanted from the very beginning, so hiring a very experienced team of builders was the only option for me. It’s taken the full year to get to the stage we are at now but we still have areas that need to be finished. We’re getting there, but there’s no rush!
How would you describe your interiors style in three words? When did you first become interested in decor?
I would describe my interiors as chic, classic and elegant. From a very young age I had an interest in art, which led me to interior design, so I guess you could say I was just born with it. As a painter trained at Les Beaux-Arts in Belgium, I was obsessed with details, colours, light and materials without compromising on either comfort or pleasure. This love for colours and fabrics allowed me to experiment with my soft furnishings as well as my surroundings.
What inspires your interiors choices?
I am largely inspired by my travelling and surroundings. In this vibrant city of Dubai I have
