EMI­RATES WILL UN­VEIL its en­hanced A380 On­board Lounge at ITB Ber­lin ahead of a planned July launch. While re­tain­ing the horse­shoe-shaped bar, the new lounge will of­fer more seat­ing along the win­dows on both sides of the bar and each area will have a ta­ble and win­dow view. Over­all, the lounge will hold 26 pas­sen­gers at a time, in­clud­ing eight seated.

Sir Tim Clark, Pres­i­dent Emi­rates Air­line, said: “In our lat­est re­vamp, we have taken in­spi­ra­tion from pri­vate yacht cab­ins, and . . . we have made it more in­ti­mate and con­ducive for our pas­sen­gers to so­cialise.”

Note the new lounge will be on all new A380s and won’t be retro­fit­ted. It will be more airey with lighter cham­pagne colours, new blinds, LED mood light­ing and sur­round sound and fea­ture a 55-inch LCD screen.

Qatar Air­ways’ new busi­ness class seat will be un­veiled on the first day of ITB Ber­lin (March 8) and dis­played in Hall 2.2 (booth 208). Group Chief Ex­ec­u­tive, HE Ak­bar Al Baker, said he looks for­ward to shar­ing its “rev­o­lu­tion­ary new patented busi­ness class seat” with the me­dia. It is be­lieved the new seats, set to be rolled out on A350s and B777-300ERs, will fea­ture slid­ing doors for greater pri­vacy.
