ETIHAD AIRWAYS is offering economy passengers paid-for business class lounge access in Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. Charges are set at AED370 for two hours, AED550 for four, AED730 for six and AED920 for eight.

First and premium passengers will be charged for chauffeur pick-ups internationally from July 3 (excluding Residence guests). The airline attributed the decision to passengers“making their own ground transport arrangements” but it will have the dual benefit of cutting costs and raising revenues. Charges will“vary for each destination”. Another revenue-boosting move sees the launch of a ‘neighbour–free seat’ option in economy where passengers seeking more room to spread out can bid for up to three seats next to their own seat when booking online through PlusGrade. Successful bids will be confirmed 30 hours prior to departure.

Etihad follows Emirates which introduced paid lounge access for Skywards members at DXB in February.

Etihad schedule changes until September concern Dammam (fourth daily flight), Amman (second new daily), Beirut (four flights weekly, introduction of B787), Cairo (fifth new daily), Casablanca (upgraded to A340) and Rabat (one extra weekly flight).
