AUS student wins JWT scholarship
A UAE-based creative student has been awarded the J. Walter Thompson Helen Lansdowne Resor Scholarship, an international award.
Tasneem Karamallah, a communications student at the American University of Sharjah, was one of five female students to be chosen for the $10,000 academic prize. She will also intern with the agency.
The scholarship is named after JWT’s first female copywriter, who paved the way for women in the advertising industry. In light of her pioneering work, the award aims to provide support and mentorship to young women who aspire to join the creative ranks.
Alongside the funding, Karamallah will also gain a three-month internship at JWT’s regional office.
This is the second year in a row that a student from AUS has been selected for the prize. The recipient last year was Rawan Obaid, a multimedia design student.
