Ikea Saudi Arabia was quick to react to the news that women were to be allowed to drive in the kingdom, with its agency – Memac Ogilvy – turning around a celebratory campaign in less than 48 hours. In the same weekend, Ikea launched its first of its kind female tactical campaign. The campaign ran for three days only in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam, based on a competition where entrants could win cars, kitchens and vouchers. One Ikea female staff member was the lucky winner of her first car. In parallel, the home furnishing retailer developed this “It’s about time” social media post.
