BRIGHT LIGHTS

EGO - - Trends -

If there’s one thing that’ll definitely welcome you once you step into Hoss Intropia’s newly opened concept store, it’s the light. As founder and creative director of the brand Constan Hernandez puts it, “…for us as a Mediterranean brand, we’re very focused on the light. It’s like being on a clean beautiful beach next to the sea with the light, even if it’s a rainy day.”

EGO was able to gab with the animated director as he talked about light, the brand and his humble beginnings.

“I was a man without a natural profession and then I was offered to go into the world of fashion. I mean, in Spain it was a very sad country at the time because we came from a dictatorship. It (Fashion) was a sector where there was total freedom and more freedom than in other areas. Everything was open and it was more fun. There were a lot of energy which I also have, lots of beautiful women and it was a dream.” he begins.

“I was 18 years old and to get into that world was a dream come true and I just fell in love with the whole industry. I was working for many years in other companies and I felt that I had to do something different, not necessarily from a creative point of view but from a more practical business way of seeing it…and in this segment of course you have to do something different which has character. But of course the center of the whole business is the product.” he continues.

With stores all across different continents, I couldn’t help but inquire if he still manages to stay involved in the whole design and creation of the collections to which he responds with, “I am a man of product, so yes. Of course there is a big team of designers and I take good advantage of their design capacity but I give my creative touch and my experience. I have also been able to surround myself with very creative people and talented people plus now I have the opportunity to start travelling and moving out. So it’s a total dream job.”

So what part does he enjoy most, I question and he replies, “What I really enjoy most is to be with the product - which is in the kitchen. If this is a restaurant, I would be the chef or one of the chefs.” With Hoss Intropia being a women’s luxury fashion line how does Constan manage? Well…he enthusiastically answers, “One of the
