Abu Dhabi police and one of the most sought-after and expensive sports cars ever made – the Lykan Hypersport

Emirates Man - - STYLE | CARS -

When Vin Diesel’s illegal street racer Dominic Toretto drove a Lykan Hypersport through the glass windows of Jumeirah At Etihad Towers during Furious 7, it didn’t just grab the attention of your every day cinema-goer – some of Abu Dhabi’s high-ranking police must have been sitting in the audience as well. Because just a few months after the lm’s release, the emirate’s of cers borrowed one of those cars for a road safety campaign.

The Lykan Hypersport supercar is made right here in the UAE by Lebanese company W Motors. They’ve been in the sports car industry since 2012. But you won’t be able to pick up one of these in the capital’s Motorworld or Dubai’s Motor City – only seven Lykans have rolled off the production line so far.

It’s a car that would grab headlines even if it wasn’t painted to look like a law enforcement vehicle, which is why Abu Dhabi’s police decided to use it to promote traf c safety culture and educate the public about the consequences of breaking the law on the UAE’s roads.
