It was pleats galore at Balmain this season, with Olivier Rousteing channeling Paris in the 70s. Enormous palazzo pants, frilly, flirty mini skirts and one-shoulder tops all came folded into razor-sharp pleats, wowing on the runway in high-octane hues. Jonathan Anderson also made a bold statement with shimmering pleated dresses for Loewe getting us in the mood for the upcoming party season. Meanwhile, Gucci’s new creative director, Alessandro Michele, made a case for the gorgeous geek, with kooky pleated midi skirts and printed vintage-style dresses that showed a more romantic side to the trend.
