01 BUILDANETWORK

Put your flute of bubbly down – this is not about going out after work to exhaustively mingle. “Move around the office and meet people outside your department. Have lunch with new people for them to get to know you and your work. They can be helpful resources as you start building your reputationup.”

02 FIND YOUR OTHER CALLING

Outside of work, do something that has nothing to do with what you do from 9am-5pm. When you’re good at something outside of work, it can be transferred over. “I took up swimming (I was petrified of water and never thought I could do it) and that challenge gave me confidence in every aspectofmylife.”

03 CLICKWITHCAN-DOERS

If you’ re constantly around people who are negative and riddled with low self-esteem, that can be very toxic and can unwittingly bring you down in the dumps too. People who aspire to challenge themselves to do things that might seem impossible at first, create a very positive environment. “We’re known by the company we keep .”

04 FIND YOUR BRAND AMBASSADOR S

Talking about yourself is toe-curling at best. If you have a few friends or ‘fans’ of yours who believe in you and root for what you do and can help introduce you to the right people, this is very validating. You know it feels great when someone toots your horn because let’s face it, it’s difficult to talk about yourself.
