A bit of Britain in Dubai
Always dreamt of cruising on the transatlantic liner QE2? Well, dream no more. The PCFC Hotels (Dubai government Ports, Customs and Freezone Corporation) has reinvented the iconic 13-deck Queen of the Seas and it is now docked permanently at Mina Rashid. The floating beauty has been reformed to its former glory. Think living in majestic interiors with period furniture, renowned paintings and famous memorabilia in cabin-style rooms, all equipped with the latest technology. The gems in the crown though have to be the two Royal Suites, named after the Queen’s mother and grandmother, and which can only be booked by invit3ation. Your palate’s in for a treat as well, with decadent British fare at the Queen’s Grill, afternoon tea at the chic Yacht Club, or a family treat on the expansive terrace at The Pavilion. End the day byhaving a mocktail or two while soaking in marina sunset views at the The Golden Lion before retiring to the cabaret-style, The Grand Lounge. The ship is in its soft-launch phase; the official opening comes in October.
