BRCA: Beauty vs health
The health feature in last week’s issue (‘Should you get tested for the cancer gene?’, July 19) made me start wondering if we value beauty over life.
We live in a day and age where we value youthful looks and physical beauty more than anything else and are willing to go to any lengths to maintain it. But when an iconic beauty like Angelina Jolie goes under the knife to prevent herself from developing the dreaded disease called cancer, we wonder if she is still as beautiful and forget to applaud her courage.
I hope women across the globe take lessons from her and give their health priority over their appearance.
