For me, I believe in starting as I mean to go on – and that is relaxing in luxury at the airport in the Emirates Business Lounge*.

With a five-year-old child in tow I didn’t want to face the crowds or worry about her getting bored so we headed straight there after checking in and clearing security. With a children’s play area, a PS3 and driving simulator, there was plenty to keep my little girl amused while I caught up on my emails.

Ours was an early morning flight so we had a delicious breakfast and juice from the juice bar. There is also a business centre, Wi-Fi throughout the lounge, flight information displays, Skywards help desk, prayer rooms and TVs.

Most importantly, there was peace and quiet for me and fun for my daughter until it was time to board the plane. We even had a golf buggy to take us to the gate as it was the other end of the airport. “This is fun,” my little girl giggled – the perfect way to begin our trip. *Business class lounges are for business class customers only.
