Picky eaters learn from parents

I thought the health feature was very relevant this week (‘10 ways to raise a fuss-free eater’, August 30) as most of us have picky kids at home who give us a lot of trouble when it comes to finishing all that is on their plate.

My favourite tip was the one on parents being good role models. I think quite often parents forget to practice what they preach and find themselves making excuses for their poor eating habits. Since kids emulate their parents in many ways, they tend to have poor eating habits as well, and what you have eventually is a situation where both parents and kids lead a unhealthy and sedentary lifestyle. So parents want their kids to lead a healthy lifestyle, they should lead from the front.
