Joining forces to save lives
The Making a Difference feature this week (‘Life begins here’, August 30) was a perfect example of how two diametrically opposite schools of thought – capitalism and socialism – can come together for the greater good of society.
By using Coca-Cola’s extensive distribution network in the remote areas of Africa to distribute lifesaving medicines, one man has proved that a strong will and belief in a cause goes a long way. The ‘Life begins here’ feature was enlightening. Simon Berry’s idea of creating a simple life-saving kit that fits snugly into a Coca-Cola crate and can be transported to the remotest of areas in Zambia proves that if we have the desire to make a positive difference to the world we live in, then all we have to do is stop complaining about lack of institutional or government support and think of ways we, the common people, can stimulate change.
