A lesson in humility

Friday - - Society Living Leisure -

The article on Palestinian refugees was heart-wrenching and revealing (‘Pictures of hope’, September 13). After reading about the hardships the children in the refugee camp go through just to get by, I realised I need to be more grateful to my parents and the society I live in for providing a safe environment to pursue my dreams.

These children, who do not know what it means to have a comfortable bed, plenty of food on the table or a well-equipped school, have shown me it doesn’t matter what life dishes out to you – it’s what you make of it that counts.

Thank you Friday, for giving me a lesson in humility.

From Palestinian refugees, this picture, to sick Indian expats, right, and child labourers, below, all have been given hope in one way or another
