The Midas touch
Inside my fridge, beside the blocks of Cheddar cheese and packets of mozzarella, is my golden mask. My children regularly scream when they pull it out by mistake while rummaging for treats. “Is this for fancy dress?” they’ll ask and I shake my head. It was given to me by a beautician who told me to keep it chilled so I can use it to fight wrinkles as gold has anti-ageing properties. Cleopatra slept in a gold mask every night to retain her youthful beauty and while I don’t go that far I do slip the mask on once a week for an hour. Luckily it comes with slits for my eyes, nose and mouth so I can relax on the sofa watching TV while the beautifying properties get to work. After reading the fascinating beauty article on page 72 about gold and its ore-inspiring benefits I know what I’ll be doing this Diwali – trying to regain my lost youth without scaring the children.
I’ll also be hoping to dazzle at one of the many parties being held this weekend, so I’ll definitely be shopping our fantastic fashion shoot on page 52. You can never have too much glitter or enough sequins so I’m planning to hit the high street and shine. Hope you do too – have a fabulous Diwali.
