All The Wrong Questions: When Did You See Her Last?

Friday - - Leisure -

I hadn’t read any Lemony Snicket books before – any of the Series of Unfortunate Events books or the previous book in this new series, All The Wrong Questions, which stars a young Snicket as the main character. So this was a new experience – and I liked it.

In this book set in Stain’d-by-the-Sea, Snicket and his mentor, Theodora Markson, are investigating the mysterious disappearance of the daughter of the owners of Ink Inc.

Is the girl a runaway? Or was she kidnapped? Was she seen last at the grocery store? Or could she have stopped at the diner? Is it really any of your business? Theodora quickly concludes that the girl has simply run away. But when visiting her parents, Snicket smells a substance that makes you drowsy and forgetful.

He sets off by himself to discover more, and soon must battle the Inhumane Society and one of its most evil villains, Hangfire.

I liked the twists and turns in this book. At times it’s also very creepy, thanks to both its black and white pictures and its colourful language. For young mystery-lovers, this book is a must.
