What’s your most memorable moment?
the flat display depending on the cloud base. To carry out a full display – where all of the high loops are performed – the base of the cloud must be above 5,500ft to avoid the aircraft entering the cloud at the top of the loop. In Dubai we are hoping for clear skies and to perform our dynamic full show that lasts 21 minutes. This display involves a series of synchronised formation aerobatics during the first half where all the nine aircraft fly together.
The second half of the displays sees the nine Hawk jets of the Red Arrows split into smaller groupings and fly more dynamic manoeuvres. people watching us in the stadium armed with cameras of all types. From the corner of my eye I caught what must have been 80,000 camera flashes going off. It was an incredible moment. Her Majesty the Queen had seen several of our shows, but never a full show. On her special request we performed at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations last year. Her comments were very favourable and that will always be a much-cherished moment for me.
