Celebrate Chinese New Year today in style at home with these delicious and easy-to-make recipes by celebrity chef Silvena Rowe
Prep time: 10 mins Marinating time: 1 hour Cooking time: 10 mins Serves 4
FOR THE MARINADE
2 tbsp lemon juice 5 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp honey 3 cm piece of ginger, grated 1 green chilli, thinly sliced
FOR THE STIR-FRY
400g beef fillet, sliced into thin strips 2 tbsp sesame oil 1 yellow, green and red bell pepper, sliced into strips, plus extra to garnish 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced 1 onion, finely sliced 1 75g noodles, cooked
1 In a medium bowl, whisk together all the marinade ingredients.
2 Coat the beef with the marinade and set it aside for 1 hour.
3 Heat the oil in a wok over high heat until it is nearly smoking.
4 As the oil is heating, remove the beef from the marinade, reserving the marinade. Pat the beef dry and separate it into small batches. Cook each batch for no more than 1 minute then transfer to a bowl.
5 Now add the peppers and garlic to the pan and stir-fry for a few minutes. Return the beef to the pan with a little of the reserved marinade. Add the onion and toss everything together. Cook for few minutes more. Add the noodles, season to taste and serve hot, garnished with bell peppers.
