Chili’s no doubt can stake claim to be­ing the first restau­rant chain to in­tro­duce the UAE to the con­cept of ca­sual din­ing in Amer­i­can and Tex-Mex cui­sine. Way be­fore TGI Fridays and the rest did – and yet it still hasn’t lost out on its clien­tele.

Lo­cated on Jumeirah Beach Road, this small branch’s com­fort­able booths were packed with fam­i­lies, buzzing with con­ver­sa­tion and em­a­nat­ing good vibes when we vis­ited. Ded­i­cated kids’ as well as veg­e­tar­ian menus are de rigeur. But true to the South­ern/Tex-Mex cui­sine, its spread of­fers burg­ers, steaks, fried chicken, shakes and ev­ery­thing else that con­sti­tutes a typ­i­cal all-Amer­i­can meal.

Ap­pe­tiz­ers like the Triple Dip­per and Bot­tom­less Tostada Chips are not only mouth-wa­ter­ing but also per­fect for shar­ing. The Cre­ate-YourOwn-Combo op­tion is a life­saver if you’re ac­com­pa­nied by kids who are picky eaters. While the Kid’s Mac and Coun­try Fried Chicken are sure to keep the lit­tle ones happy, mums and dads will love one of the many flame-grilled steaks.

Vege­tar­i­ans, fret not, the burg­ers and sand­wiches come with a meat sub­sti­tu­tion of­fer and the Av­o­cado Burger with red onions and Swiss cheese is a win­ner.

Noth­ing screams Amer­i­can like ice cream smooth­ies, and it would be a shame to visit Chili’s and not try one. Dis­cern­ing adults can al­ways fall back on the cre­ative mock­tails on of­fer such as Blue Paci­fico and Tradewinds.

The best is al­ways saved for last, which is why we were ex­cited about

dessert, which was the famed Molten Choco­late Cake; a vis­ual and gus­ta­tory de­light. The cake was warm, moist and the sauce was just mor­eish! We left with choco­late beards so be warned – if you’re go­ing on af­ter Chilli’s, check your re­flec­tion other­wise ev­ery­one will know where you’ve been!
