Slumming it!

Friday - - Editor's Letter -

H e’s known the world over as the villain from SlumdogMillionaire – the smooth-talking TV host who did everything he could to try to make sure Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) didn’t win the top prize of Rs20 million.

His hard-hearted portrayal was so realistic he was chosen to play an evil womanising tycoon opposite Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 4 –

Ghost Protocol, bringing his own style of sleaze to the big screen. But in real life Anil Kapoor is all smiles; a down-to-earth guy who’s only rider for our exclusive

Friday shoot was that he could watch the last over of cricket before getting ready for his close up.

Luckily, India beat Australia and he could enjoy the rest of the afternoon, alternating between being super-sharp (and super-groomed – this guy shaves twice a day to keep his trademark stubble at exactly the right length) and laid-back casual for our photographer, Dennis.

He was hungry and thirsty after finishing an interview with both us and Josh 97.8, our sister radio station, but was happy with just a glass of extracold water. For a mega Bolly- and Hollywood star he doesn’t know the meaning of the word ‘demanding’. Anil is here to set up his own company and studio in Dubai so that he can travel between India and America filming. Turn to page 14 to find out more about the super-cool – and very sweet – actor. Enjoy!
