A dozen chefs were manning cooking stations at this grand iftar, warming flatbread or flaking lamb ouzi. The centre spread featured Lebanese cuisine with Oriental, Asian and South American additions. I was instantly drawn to the mixed grill – and with 25 kinds of Arabic sweets on offer for dessert I plumped for the bekdash bouza vanilla ice cream with crushed pistachio. Wow!
