Rus­sell used a com­bi­na­tion of cog­ni­tive be­havioural ther­apy to help Haniya talk through and explore the dread­ful things that had hap­pened to her, and Hyp­nother­apy to en­ter Haniya’s sub­con­scious and trans­form her re­ac­tions to fear. This way she was able to re­spond in a dif­fer­ent way to the anx­i­ety trig­gers that pre­vi­ously con­trolled her, and she then learned to con­trol them her­self.

These tech­niques work ex­tremely well for those suf­fer­ing from panic and anx­i­ety, re­gard­less of the source.
