The beauty benefits

Want plumped-up skin, fewer fine lines and a bright, clear complexion? We thought so! “Cinnamon has more antioxidant value than half a cup of blueberries,” says nutritionist Keri Glassman, author of The O2 Diet. Cinnamon stimulates blood circulation, helping to bring blood and nutrients to the skin’s surface. This plumps up cells and reduces the appearance of fine lines while helping to dry out spots due to the increased level of oxygen present in skin cells. This also makes it an amazing anti-ager, as thanks to its levels of cinnamaldehyde (the organic compound that gives cinnamon its flavour and aroma), collagen levels and skin elasticity are increased, slowing down the ageing process whilst leaving skin looking younger and fresher. And it smells like Christmas. Yum!

To make at home

If you have acne and blemishes, mix 1 tbsp of cinnamon with 3 tbsp of honey and apply it on your face as a mask. Leave for 20 minutes and rinse. Used once a week, over time you will be left with soft and clear skin.
