Q AI want to eat more healthily but I don’t know where to start. Are there any recipes that can be used as a base and then be adapted, such as an easy stir-fry? Stir-frying is a great option for anyone starting out on a healthy eating regime, as you can adapt it to whatever you have in the fridge.

Stir-frying is a quick way to cook so you must have your ingredients prepared beforehand – you don’t want to take the pan off the heat while you chop a pepper as the items already in the pan will become soggy.

To make a tasty chicken stir-fry, first heat 1 tbsp of sesame oil in a large deep frying pan or wok. When it is very hot, add 1 chopped chicken breast and stir-fry for about 2 minutes. Remove from the pan. Next, add chopped onion, garlic and ginger and fry for 1 minute. Add chopped vegetables such as peppers, broccoli and mushrooms, fry for 1 minute then return the chicken to the pan. Next add 1 tbsp of soy sauce and stir-fry for 1 minute. Serve with brown rice, scattered with chopped spring onions. DO YOU HAVE A QUESTION FOR SILVENA? Email her at fri, with ‘Domestic Diva’ in the subject field
