Q I love to have crou­tons with my soup but now that I’m off breads, I’m won­der­ing if I can make crou­tons with some­thing else. Do you have any ideas?

A Ap­ples add a won­der­ful crunch. Here’s what you need to do. Peel, core and thinly slice 1 large ap­ple. Now heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a fry­ing pan over medium heat, add the ap­ple slices and sauté un­til the fruit be­gins to soften. Add a few pinches of golden caster sugar and stir un­til the ap­ples caramelise. Re­move from the pan and serve with your soup. Crispy fried kale or spinach also pro­vide the crunch fac­tor you’re look­ing for. En­joy!
