Driving to our offices over the past few weeks has been so exciting, witnessing the finishing touches to the Dubai Water Canal, and watching the live stream of the opening. So this week I headed to the boardwalk to see this amazing project firsthand. I was blown away – such a huge undertaking, and yet it felt like it had always been there. I’m not a chocoholic (I’ll take a cheese plate any day) but even I couldn’t help but fall in love with the Mirzam Chocolate factory in Alserkal Avenue. The minimalist space puts the workings of a chocolate factory on show behind glass walls – but the scent of roasting, churning chocolate thankfully doesn’t stay behind the glass. The staff will talk you through the process and then it’s up to you if you choose to buy the beautifully packaged bars – or how about chocolate tea? It’s a thing. Natalie Long, Editor

The highlight of my week? Meeting not one, not two… but three Bond girls – Tonia Sotiropoulou (Skyfall), Irka Bochenko (Moonraker) and Caterina Murino (Casino Royale). The actresses were in Dubai to kick off Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style, a fascinating exhibition at Burj Khalifa Annex that runs until February 13 next year.
