Beaverbrook hotel, London

Friday - - Travel News -

If multiple viewings of Downton Abbey and The Crown have you craving scenic countryside getaways with a bit of English high-society history thrown in, the newly opened Beaverbrook Country House hotel is a good starting point. Located 30km from Piccadilly Circus, London, in the county of Surrey, the estate has plenty of history – it was the former home of Winston Churchill’s friend, politician Lord Beaverbrook. The 400-acre estate is opening up its sections in phases and will be running at full steam by the summer of 2017, complete with its own Coach House Spa.

Currently, guests can access The Garden House, an 11-bedroom cottage-esque property in a walled garden that has rooms adorned with old-edition Penguin classics. There’s also an Anglo-Italian restaurant, a Sharky & George-run tree house and adventure hideaway, and a Golf Club House designed by eight-time major champion Tom Watson.
