Sharjah’s sights, sounds and sports
Who runs through Sharjah? Girls! At the Sharjah Ladies Run today women aged 12 and above can participate in the 5km and 10km races. The race starts from Skyline University at Sharjah University City and lasts from 6pm-9pm. The 5km run has a participation fee of Dh100, and Dh160 for the 10km run, inclusive of a certificate and goody bag. Sign up online at slc.ae.
Find Nemo – and plenty of other species of fish – at the Sharjah Aquarium Carnival. Until February 26 from 5.30pm-10pm daily, there’ll be aquatic-themed entertainment, theatrical performances, visual displays and workshops where you can learn about the UAE’s marine life and methods of conservation. Life-size models of sharks and seahorses, and bubble machines and aquatic sounds will recreate the mystery of the deep blue in the Sharjah Aquarium at Al Khan. Entrance fee of Dh15 for children aged two-12 years and Dh25 for adults and children 13 years and above.
Finally, Syrian singer Assala (below) and Egyptian star Angham perform at Al Majaz Amphitheatre today at 9pm, with tickets from Dh150 at ticketmaster.ae.
