An apt question for the current situation, where the world is getting smaller and business is happening across time zones. Yes, being in the Middle East, which is now a trading hub, receiving work emails during the wee hours is very regular.
With technology, mobile phones are synced to work mails. Hence, I mute the sound for emails an hour before going to bed, so that I avoid anxiety.
With regards to managing your mail, there are lots of emails in my inbox, many of which have me in the CC list. These would take second priority, considering the urgency. Priority emails are ones addressed ‘to’ me. I move those emails into the task folder. I allocate a date and time to attend to the mail as per the level of priority. I then set a reminder to answer them.
I regularly archive my inbox. I would like to mention that if the email is addressed to more than one person, then I am sure that the sender would get a very delayed reply or no reply at all. Good practice would be to send mail to one person only. Kamalshree Ravi
