– the 2007 novel by Afghan-American author Khaled Hosseini. It was a gift from my colleague who knew that I loved reading. I owe her for the kindness as it would be a loss if I had missed it. The book is about Afghanistan – and please note that it’s not about the prejudices many have about the country and the people. Though the turmoil in the country is known, the details of ordinary people’s lives in and around it was indeed touching. And the realisation of how beautiful and great the country was earlier and how people now link it just to the Taliban will make you sorry for what you thought about the country. The way the author linked the history and the latest events of the country through two female lead characters is the best. And after the read, you will feel an urge to visit the country in your lifetime – that is what I felt myself. I would recommend it to anyone who loves people and the world around them!
