This week’s don’t-miss events.

As part of the Dubai Food Festival street food concept, Truckers DXB will be at Marasi Business Bay until tomorrow. The waterfront promenade by the Dubai Water Canal will be parked with 20 home-grown food trucks such as BurgerItch, Casa Latina, Chef Moti Roti, Sir Loin & Sons and Sugar Rush dishing out international cuisines. There will also be a pop-up market alongside live performances and fun and games in the form of jugglers and a mechanical bull. From 4-11pm, free entry. Don’t forget to check out the last weekend of the Etisalat Beach Canteen at Dubai’s Kite Beach, with not only food, but also demonstrations, fitness, music and art.

If you want dinner and a show, the other food truck destination in town – Last Exit – is hosting open-air cinema event Movies to Munch today and tomorrow. It’s sci-fi week, so you’ll find yourself lounging on beanbags catching evening screenings of film favourites such as Smurfs, Men in Black 3 and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, from 5.30pm.

Food trucks and al fresco screenings meet again in Al Ain, at the Weekends at the Oasis, but with a twist: the community programme will screen popular TV shows from the 1970s and 1980s today and tomorrow. You can also watch ayyala performances and storytelling inspired by life within the Oasis, where there are workshops for children and markets selling handmade Emirati products (shows were TBA at the time of going to print). From 2-10pm; the event is an initiative to support the Unesco theme Protecting our Heritage and Fostering Creativity; visitalain.ae.

From March 16-25, Dubai Marina Promenade will host comedians, acrobats and unicycles – there’s no circus in town, it’s just the seventh edition of the Dubai Marina Street Festival. Forty acts, food trucks, international street entertainers are highlights of the 10-day festival, call 04 436 1020.

Parents of budding sports stars should head to the Kids DXB Sports Festival on March 17 at Dubai College. From 3-5pm kids play football, rugby, golf, basketball, volleyball, tennis without cut-throat competition or finish lines. Entry is free, snacks and water provided.
