Ideas for plan­ning a great Easter, and loads of fun events this week­end too.

Spring is in the air, as is the faint whiff of choco­late. Easter is around the cor­ner – April 16, to be pre­cise – just enough time to de­cide where you want to feast on all things sweet and choco­latey and then work off those calo­ries at egg hunts. Time to get egg-cited!

The St Regis Abu Dhabi is cel­e­brat­ing Easter with ex­quis­ite choco­late ex­pe­ri­ences. The six events have been cre­ated in col­lab­o­ra­tion with Weiss Choco­late and choco­late chef Andy Van den Broeck, and in­clude an af­ter­noon ‘chocola-tea’ from April 13-17, a sushi and steak choco­late spe­cial on April 13, Easter Brunch on April 14 and April 16, and egg paint­ing on April 15. The Ara­bian Ranches Golf Club, Dubai, is host­ing its Eg­g­ster brunch on April 14 with an egg hunt, a buf­fet, face-paint­ing and mu­sic. From 12-4pm; Dh225 per adult and Dh115 per child. Call 04 360 7935.

On April 14, Eastern Man­groves Ho­tel & Spa by Anan­tara in Abu Dhabi has a buf­fet fea­tur­ing spring’s boun­ties such as roasted lamb and plenty of choco­late bun­nies for kids (and adults – we won’t judge) to munch on. The UAE is one of the few places with the weather for a pleas­ant beach­side Easter, and Nasimi Beach at At­lantis, The Palm Dubai is mak­ing the most of it with its Ex­trav­a­gant Easter BBQ on April 16. Now here’s a trea­sure hunt that would have In­di­ana Jones eggcited – the Eg­gven­ture Hunt at At­lantis, The Palm on April 15 will see par­tic­i­pants glide down the Torrent river at Aqua­ven­ture Waterpark and seek out 50,000 float­ing eggs. Then swap your eggs at the Candy Eg­gschange for Easter candy and other prizes. From 9am, en­try to the park is Dh195 for adults and Dh170 for chil­dren. Sof­i­tel Dubai Down­town is also tak­ing it out­doors, by the pool, with an out­door Easter brunch on April 14. Street food from China, Mex­ico, Italy and the US will be served, and who­ever finds the golden egg dur­ing the egg hunt will win a lunch for two adults and two chil­dren at the newly opened Le­banese-Ar­me­nian restau­rant Al Mayass. 1-4pm; from Dh150 per per­son. Flavours restau­rant at Sher­a­ton Abu Dhabi has an Easter brunch planned on April 14 (12.30-3.30pm; Dh200) and an­other one on Easter Sun­day (7-11pm; Dh165). On April 15, the ho­tel is host­ing its Bun­nyville event at the beach area – kids can dec­o­rate eggs, par­tic­i­pate in egg hunts, watch clas­sic kids’ films, and meet bun­nies and lambs at the pet­ting zoo. Bored with brunches? The Raf­fles Dubai Easter col­lec­tion fash­ion af­ter­noon tea at mixes things up. From April 7-16 the ho­tel’s sa­lon serves savoury treats with a se­lec­tion of Easter cakes and pas­tries in­clud­ing lemon tart, choco­late nest with marsh­mal­low, and cake pop bunny ‘blusher’. Byzan­tium Lounge at Taj Dubai is host­ing an Easter kids’ party on April 16. Tots aged two to eight can go on an egg hunt and egg-dec­o­rat­ing work­shop. But it’s the chil­dren-only dolls’ tea party with mini sand­wiches and pas­tries that has us wish­ing we were kids. Adults can en­joy an Easter-in­spired af­ter­noon tea.
