You don’t have to wait un­til the Dubai Jazz Festival to hear jazz mu­sic from around the world – in­ter­na­tional jazz and blues artists and bands will per­form at the free Jazz Gar­den series at Habtoor Grand Ho­tel, Dubai Ma­rina, on April 28. The con­cert is a subevent of the an­nual festival, and fea­tures gigs by lo­cal ta­lent such as the nine-mem­ber band Soul Go­rilla and Le­banese blues mu­si­cian Stil­lRaw. In­ter­na­tional acts in­clude US jazz duo JT Project, Ger­man band Bonita and The Blues Shack (pic­tured, above), and Amer­i­can R&B sax­o­phon­ist Sax Gor­don. Hap­pily, the event is just the first in a series (the or­gan­is­ers told Fri­day that the de­tails and dates of the next set of per­for­mances haven’t been fi­nalised. French house mu­sic group Apol­lo­nia will be per­form­ing at Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE to­day. The crew – com­pris­ing DJs Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom, and Shonky – will be joined by Grammy-nom­i­nated com­poser Carl Craig and elec­tronic mu­sic duo Stavroz. It’s 1pm-11pm; call 056 113 3400.

Amer­i­can singer and song­writer Bebe Rexha (pic­tured bot­tom, right) will per­form at the Autism Rocks Arena on April 28 as part of the of­fi­cial pre-party to Justin Bieber’s con­cert on May 6. The singer, known for her sin­gle I Got You, has also writ­ten hits like Ri­hanna and Eminem’s The Mon­ster, Selena Gomez’s Cham­pion and worked on Martin Gar­rix’s In The Name of Love. Grammy nom­i­nated-DJ and mu­sic pro­ducer Axwell (pic­tured, left) will be in town on April 27 to get the party started at Base, the new open-air club at Dubai De­sign District. Axwell – a former Swedish House Mafia mem­ber – is known for club bangers like Feel The Vibe and I Found You. The su­per-venue aims to ri­val party cap­i­tals like Ibiza and Las Ve­gas, with state-of-the-art light and sound sys­tems, py­rotech­nics, a multi-tiered lay­out and a su­per line-up of in­ter­na­tional artists and DJs – think 50Cent, Pharrell Wil­liams, Fetty Wap, Fu­ture and Nicky Romero – who will per­form at the venue’s short series of in­tro­duc­tory par­ties be­fore Base pauses op­er­a­tions for summer.
